In this Verdant Place
2025
This collection brings the restorative, calming qualities of nature's palette inside.
Each colour is drawn from pockets of forest that hum with tranquil magic.
Natural havens that offer a bridge between the outer world we navigate every day, and the inner secret gardens we cultivate quietly.
A return to home within.
Each print is a reproduction of an original abstract collage, made from paintings in watercolour and ink on paper.
The process
For this collection, I created a series of 69 collages, bound in a sketchbook.
Painted papers in a botanical palette, assembled in geometric compositions.
A daily practice to find balance in movement, structure and colour harmony.
Book #5
Leaf through my hand-bound sketchbook, where the original artworks live.
In the very last few pages, you'll find the pieces that became prints for this collection.

A salve for stress
In the midst of bustling cities and overwhelming online life, how can you create a sanctuary that soothes?
By drawing from the intelligence of nature to nourish and hold a strained nervous system.
In studies, greens have been proven to shift mood, encourage creativity and reduce anxiety.
A Feng Shui
perspective
In the ancient Chinese practice of Feng Shui, greens and blues (as well as rectangular forms) represent the wood element. They enhance the New Beginnings and Wealth sections of the home.
The shapes and colours in these artworks can be harnessed to welcome your next life chapter, allowing in fresh opportunities and abundance.
A select few of the pieces contain a deep blackberry purple, almost black. In Feng Shui, this is associated with both the water element, and prosperity.
This deep colour invites in wisdom, connection to intuition and abundance.
Order & harmony
For this collection, I chose to strip away any imagery or representation to allow the colour to do its work.
I studied how adjacent colours play with one another and how subtle shifts in their temperature and proportions change the atmosphere.
My intention is for the compositions to offer you a felt sense of being in the forest. As inner chaos settles and the nervous system reorders itself.
From discordant to harmonious. From overstimulation to quiet reconnection to self.
Portals
In the thick of creating this collection, doorways began to emerge.
Passageways between here and somewhere else. But where?
“Step inside," they seemed to whisper.
Colour has the power to reach through the labyrinth of corridors and rooms inside you. Where memories, emotions and the truest version of you lives.
A place to be
When your nervous system is requesting deep rest, consider adding greens and blues into your space, as a complement to your mind body practices.
These artworks seek to bring the restorative, nourishing qualities of nature's palette home.
Allowing you to benefit every day, even on the days that you aren't able to access nature.
See, touch, feel
Experience the quality of the materials and the exact colours before choosing your final pieces.
These samples are colour accurate giclée miniature prints, on the same sustainable bamboo paper as the full-sized artworks.
A visualisation
Imagine
You adjust your balance
to the undulations of understory.
The gentle pad of your steps
supported by ages of earth
beneath you.
You navigate over and around
enormous, ancestral roots.
And enjoy the satisfying snap
of tiny fallen twigs underfoot.
Drink in the forest air;
to quench an ancient thirst.
The subtle citrus scent of resin
and damp soil fills your lungs.
Breeze plays tag with branches
and brushes your cheek on its way.
Towering canopies
are thick with bird babble.
Their rippling, inky shadows
slow-dance surround you.
And within them,
fronds of ferns unfurl.
Silvery bluish lichen curls.
Beyond, golden ribbons of rays
reach down through the thicket.
They sprinkle the forest floor
with lustrous, dappled, confetti.
You step into the spotlight,
onto a carpet of olive moss.
Cushioned, buoyant.
As the sun catches,
you watch it bloom.
Rich honey hues.
Above, a chorus of leaves
shimmer and sigh.
Lit from behind,
thousands of paper lanterns.
Your body hums in harmony
with all of nature.
Resuming its place,
as though it had lost
neither time nor space.
Here in the verdant vastness,
that vibrates with quiet magic.
Cocoon of calming colour
By borrowing from nature's palette, you can create a soothing, inspired home that restores you.
Utilising colour as ingredients to feed your soul and work with your nervous system.
